This summer internship is awarded to college juniors, seniors, and recent graduates. Interns work within the Education Department as Program Assistants, facilitating gallery exploration for summer camp groups and conduct public programming for family audiences mid-June through late-August. Qualifications: * BA, BS or BFA (or Junior/Senior) in studio art, art history, museum education, art education, anthropology, science or related field * Cheerful, friendly, and outgoing disposition * Experience working with children * Willingness to learn * Ability and desire to work with children and their families * Comfortable in an energetic environment Responsibilities: * See placement descriptions below General Development: * Read selected articles related to museum education theory and practices * Research the Museum's cultural objects, live animals and plant life * Observe public and camp programs using observation guidelines in order to contribute to the best practices of our department Dates: June through August. Recruitment process will be kept open until all the positions have been filled. Schedule: Tuesday through Sunday. A minimum commitment of 3 to 4 days per week, generally 9:30am–5:30pm with flexibility. Salary: This is an unpaid internship. College credits could be awarded.
