As a Program Assistant Intern, you will work with the Coop Extension Office assisting with development, including preparation for intern training and other projects. GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: • Participate in training session as scheduled and mid- and post-program debriefing sessions • Implement nutrition program activities at Farmers’ Markets and WIC and Senior Center sites: Prepare materials and set up exhibits Plan and present workshops on selection and preparation of fruits and vegetables Conduct food tasting demonstrations • Explain how to redeem Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program checks to eligible WIC recipients and senior citizens • Inform public about Cornell University Cooperative Extension – NYC Programs and refer people, as appropriate, to various programs for which they may be eligible • Prepare program reports • Other program activities as assigned QUALIFICATIONS: • Some nutrition background (college coursework in nutrition preferred) • Willingness to travel to program sites throughout the city and to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions • Ability to work with diverse populations • Ability to communicate in English (orally and in writing), bilingual preferred, spanish-speaking a plus • Flexible schedule, including weekends • Reliable and dependable • Ability to work well as a team member Beginning in June, ending by August, this student will work up to 35 hours per week as part of our Nutrition and Health Program team.
