Each year, MFCNS students are required to write essays describing leadership activities they are involved in. These essays demonstrate vividly how much MFCNS students contribute to campus life or their local community by devoting their energy to a wide variety of causes. An Essay Evaluation Committee made up of alumni reads the essays and chooses the students in each class year that are most deserving of the MFCNS Excellence in Leadership Award. A monetary award and certificate is presented to the senior winner during the special MFCNS graduation ceremony in May. The senior winner is also invited to speak at the MFCNS Alumni reception in New York City. Winners from the freshmen, sophomore, and junior classes are regonized during the Leadership Consortium early in the next academic year.
