Sophomore Information

Scholars use their sophomore year to further explore their interests and become more fully involved in research. Sophomores, whether working with a new mentor or a mentor from the previous year, need to write a research plan. The program hopes that students will think creatively about their projects. Teaming up with other research scholars for a joint project or with more than one faculty mentor for interdisciplinary work is possible. Students who are not fully integrated with a faculty mentor or who fall below academic standards by the end of the sophomore year will be carefully evaluated by the program and college staff and face the possibility of being removed from the program.
