Work in the library dept. assisting everyone from curators to other interns with research. Major project involved reorganizing and refiling past curatorial binders. Also organized the color photography archives and worked in circulation. Interns gain firsthand experience of a museum's inner workings. They are primarily college juniors and seniors, though graduate-level students will also be considered if appropriate projects arise. Under the supervision of a department head/curator, interns assist in regular departmental activities ranging from research to clerical tasks. To apply for the academic year program, submit your resume and a cover letter, plus a statement of purpose describing why you want to work at the Whitney and what you hope to gain and contribute. There are additional requirements for the summer program (all materials must be mailed). Email hr@whitney.org for more information about the application process. This nine-week full-time program will run from June 5 through August 4, 2006. The deadline for applications is March 1. Weekly seminars are organized with department heads and curators. The Museum offers a $500 stipend and $126 toward transportation costs.
