Win needs you! Individual volunteers are a tremendous asset supporting Win in our corporate offices and/or in our shelters. We need dedicated people who have skills that can help us advance in the areas of: Administration – could be Word Processing, Filing, Reports, Assisting Leadership Teams. Special Projects – could be Events, Marketing, Fundraising, Leading Volunteers or Donations. Job Readiness – could be Interview Skills, Financial Literacy, Computer Training, Job Search. *Job Readiness opportunities for individuals are rare and may be discussed in further detail upon request. Becoming a volunteer is easy. You will fill out an application which will be collected and processed within two weeks. Finally, one-on-one interviews with a Volunteer Coordinator will be held after to complete the process. New Volunteer Opportunities will be posted here. Please review our posted opportunities to ensure a good match for your skills and our needs. Individual volunteers must be 18 or older. Please see the Group Volunteer section for opportunities to bring youth groups to Win. Administration: Volunteers that lead the way in filing, data entry and other clerical duties are integral to keeping those systems running well at our main offices located Manhattan, as well as in our shelters throughout four of the five boroughs. Potential administrative volunteers should have great organizational skills, high attention to detail and availability during regular business hours, Monday through Friday from 9am – 5pm. HEADQUARTERS (HQ) CHAMPIONS support our main office staff in Manhattan by assisting with filing, data entry and reception duties, as well as special projects. HQ Champions have the opportunity to learn about different departments in nonprofit organizations. Potential HQ Champions should have great organizational skills, CASE MANAGER (CM) CHAMPIONS support our Win social services staff by assisting them with general office duties, including answering phones, filing and data entry. This helps them focus their time on supporting individual family needs. This is a great way to learn more about social work in a shelter environment. Individuals interested Special Projects: Win has several special projects and events that could use great volunteers like you! These might include anything from mass mailings to supporting our in-kind donation efforts. Volunteers in this capacity will not interact with families directly, but are still vital in having a huge impact on our families’ quality of life. Time commitments for special projects will vary throughout the year, so please continue to check our website for more details about participating in these opportunities. BACKPACK BUDDIES help out during Win’s Operation Backpacks Drive in the summer, helping Win and various city-wide sponsors provide the children in our programs with over 1,500 new backpacks and supplies for the beginning of the school year. Backpack Buddies help pack up and deliver the new backpacks to our 10 family shelter-residences. Individuals interested in this opportunity can learn more details and begin to sign-up to volunteer at the end of May. SANTA’S HELPERS make the holidays a little brighter for Win children by helping to collect and sort over 2,000 gifts for our Holiday Gift Program.
