Alumni Engagement

Osei Boateng and Ghana Service Trip

During the fall of 2018, Osei Boateng, a Tradition alum, held an information session for Commitment students about a winter service trip opportunity in his home country of Ghana. Three students from the Commitment programs traveled to Ghana during January 2019. Osei looks forward to hosting a similar session in fall of 2019.

Chicago Service Day

The Commitment office partnered with the Sweet Water Foundation in Chicago in summer 2018 to host a service day for alumni and students. Students and alumni worked alongside each other to tend the organization’s community garden. The event was led by RCPRS alum Dejah Powell who moved back to her hometown of Chicago after graduating from Cornell.

 Dr. Andrea Durst Talk

Dr. Andrea Durst, a Cornell Tradition alum, returned to campus for reunion in summer of 2018. She gave an informative talk on her professional career in genetics as a practitioner and academic. She also met with students one on one to talk about pursuing genetic counseling.

Pittsburgh Service Trip

In the summer of 2017, students and alumni traveled to Pittsburgh, PA to engage in a week-long service-learning trip focused on food insecurity and gentrification.  The group participated in volunteer activities through Tree Pittsburgh, and the local Food Bank, all while engaging in conversations with local community members and stakeholders. This was a meaningful opportunity for alumni to participate in a service trip after graduating from Cornell.
