INTERNSHIP SUMMARY Part-time and full-time interns will support a variety of projects that will help City Year carry out our education mission in schools by assisting research, training, event planning, fundraising and more. Interns will begin the summer as a group with some training and professional development. During the 8-12 week program, starting at the end of June, the majority of the intern’s time will be spent working on specific department projects with a mentor but they will have the opportunity to complete an internship long research project of their choosing. Additionally, each intern will assist with general office operations, administrative work, event support, and data entry. DEPARTMENTS OF PLACEMENT: Program and Service •Prepare materials for corps member training and support school based events. •Support uniform organization and distribution for corps members. •Collect, compile, and catalogue feedback from corps member training. •Support the analysis of survey results and create survey summaries. Development and Fundraising •Write and prepare communication templates, sales, and gratitude collateral. •Assist in the maintenance of The Razors Edge fundraising database •Research and identify prospective funds: corporations, foundations, grants, and individuals. •Assist corporate service day planning, preparation, execution, and follow-up. Research and Operations •Assist with the day-to-day office operations, staff support, and special projects as assigned. •Support and assist the Chief of Staff with scheduling, file audits, and database management. •Research the high school drop-out statistics, City Year’s impact, and related education data. Recruitment •Assist the corps member application process, including filing, customer service phone calls, and scheduling. •Assist with Corps Member registration days and various outreach events as necessary. •Research City Year's top application feeder schools, create portfolios, and campus outreach strategies. Interns will have the opportunity to participate in Corporate Service Days, Lunch and Learns with members of our Leadership Team, and will be assigned a manager who will serve as their mentor throughout the summer. Start and end dates are flexible. SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS •Undergraduate or Graduate Student. •Excellent written, oral, and computer skills. •Attention to detail, organized, ability to take direction, and a commitment to quality work. •Prompt, flexible, willingness to learn. •Special consideration given to those with prior service experience.
